Luxembourg Official Trade Mission to China – 20-24.09.2026
From September 20 to 24, 2026, H.E. Mr. Lex Delles, Minister of the Economy, SME, Energy and Tourism, led an Official Trade Mission to the People's Republic of China, visiting Shanghai and Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province). He was accompanied by a large business delegation with a record number of participating companies, organized by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.
The mission aimed to strengthen economic ties between Luxembourg and China and to support Luxembourg companies already present in or looking to enter the Chinese market. Furthermore, Minister Lex Delles and the delegation had the opportunity to visit Chinese companies operating in the fields of smart mobility, logistics, clean technologies, and digital innovation, with particular emphasis on automated driving technologies and their applications in freight transport.
On September 23, the Minister of the Economy, Lex Delles, opened the Shanghai-Luxembourg Business Seminar, which brought together more than 180 participants from the business communities of both countries. The seminar co-organized by CCPIT Shanghai and Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, served as a platform for business-to-business exchanges and for exploring new opportunities for cooperation.
In the presence of the Minister of the Economy and the President of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, Fernand Ernster, three memoranda of understanding were signed in the areas of mobility and clean technologies. These agreements reflect the companies' commitment to building new partnerships by combining their respective expertise and know-how.
Furthermore, Minister Lex Delles met with Chen Jing, Vice-Chairman of the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee and FU Jihong, Vice President of the Municipal People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral economic relations in areas of common interest.
In Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province), Minister Lex Delles attended the opening ceremony of the 5th edition of the Global Digital Trade Expo (GDT), alongside Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
On their side, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce organized sector-specific visits and tailored business meetings for the participating companies as well as the Yangtze River Delta-Luxembourg Business Forum in Hangzhou, which brought together representatives from the Grand Duchy and Zhejiang Province. The forum, which focused on artificial intelligence and robotics, was followed by business meetings where Luxembourg and Chinese companies explored new opportunities for collaboration.
Before leaving China, Lex Delles stated: "We have brought together a record number of companies for a Luxembourg economic mission. This level of participation demonstrates our companies' determination to grow internationally. Discussions highlighted tangible complementarities between Luxembourg and Chinese expertise, particularly in mobility, logistics, and clean technologies. Our goal is to sustain this momentum and ensure that the partnerships forged generate tangible business activity and value for Luxembourg.
