Luxembourg Consul General visited Asia number one Sports University in Shanghai

The Consul General of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in Shanghai, Tania Berchem, visited Shanghai University of Sport (SUS), the number one of Sports Universities in Asia.

During her meeting with Chancellor LI Yin and Vice President REN Jie, technological development and scientific application in education, training and research have been discussed, as well as the integration of robots and AI technology in various sports activities in the future.

Furthermore, President SHI Zhihao, President of the China Table Tennis College (CTTC), and Tania Berchem discussed the successful training programs offered by the China Table Tennis College (CTTC), the top tier training center under SUS, and its European branch based in Luxembourg since 2014.

During her visit of the CTTC training facilities, the Luxembourg Consul General witnessed a training session of two young Luxembourgish champions Maël van Dessel and Tom Scholtes, gold medalists at the 2025 Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Andorra, who were coached by Chinese Olympic champion YAN Sen.
 

In the framework of this year’s CTTC Summer camp, five young Luxembourg players have been selected to compete in the Shanghai Table Tennis Elite Tournamentend of July, while world champions YAN Sen and ZHANG Yining, together with Chinese young players, will join the Summer Camp of CTTC-E in Luxembourg in August for trainings sessions with Luxembourg and European talents.
