New Online Arrival Card System for Travelers to China
Starting November 20, 2025, China has introduced an online arrival card system at all ports of entry and exit. This new measure aims to streamline procedures for foreign travelers and make border crossings faster and more convenient.
How to Complete the Online Arrival Card
Foreign travelers can now fill out and submit their entry information online before arriving in China through the following official channels:
- National Immigration Administration (NIA) Website
- Desktop version: https://s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPC/entry-registation-home
- Mobile version : https://s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPhone/
- NIA 12367 Mobile App
- Mini programs on WeChat and Alipay
- Or by scanning the official QR code with a mobile phone (see below)
The form requires standard details such as personal information, flight number, address in China, and a photo of the passport identity page. Once completed, the system generates a QR code to present at immigration control.
What if You Didn’t Complete the Form Before Departure?
Travelers can still fill out the arrival card upon arrival in China, either by scanning the QR code at the checkpoint or by using the paper version, which will remain available during the transition period.
Who Is Exempt from Filling Out the Arrival Card?
The following individuals are exempt from completing the form:
- Holders of a valid Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card of the People’s Republic of China
- Holders of a valid Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents (non-Chinese citizens)
- Holders of a group visa or individuals eligible for group visa-free entry
- Passengers in 24-hour direct transit who remain within the designated port area
- Cruise passengers entering and departing on the same vessel
- Travelers entering through the E-channel
- Foreign crew members of exit-entry transport vehicles
To ensure a smooth entry process, we strongly recommend completing the online form before your trip.
