Information on visa exemption for travelling to China

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade would like to inform that holders of valid ordinary Luxembourg passports travelling to China for business, tourism, family visits or transit purposes are exempt from the visa requirement for a maximum period of 15 days from 14 March 2024 to 30 November 2024.

For any other reason or for a period of more than 15 days, as well as for holders of service passports, a visa must be requested from the Chinese authorities. For further information, please consult the Chinese Embassy website.

Minister Xavier Bettel declares: "This facilitation of travel will encourage more Luxembourg citizens to visit China and will help to strengthen people-to-people and trade exchanges between our two countries".

Additional information:

This information is given for guidance only, as entry into China is the sole responsibility of the Chinese authorities. You are strongly advised to seek information from them about the procedures involved. Before travelling to China, it is essential to take out an assistance or insurance policy to cover any medical expenses that travellers may incur. These costs, which can be very high, cannot under any circumstances be covered by the Luxembourg government.
