The Luxembourgish language is experiencing increasing popularity, both within Luxembourg and beyond its borders.
The European Day of Languages, an initiative launched in 2001 by the Council of Europe and celebrated every 26 September, which aims to promote linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe, is an opportunity to highlight the self-study tool to learn Luxembourgish ‒ LLO.LU.
LLO.LU, developed by the Institut national des langues Luxembourg (INLL) and the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth in Luxembourg, offers free access to high-quality learning resources supported by the Luxembourg Government. The tool is available to everyone, without age or geographical restrictions.
Currently, the LLO.LU tool offers courses for levels A1, A2, B1 and B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), and its offer continues to expand. The platform can be accessed both on computers and as a mobile app available on iOS and Android. The interface is available in four languages: French, English, German and Luxembourgish.
