Luxembourg takes over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union
July 1st marked the first day of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union which the country will keep until December 2015. The 12th Luxembourg Presidency's main focus is to put 'the citizen at the heart of the European project.'
From a perspective of the EU relationship with China, the Migration and Mobility dialogue will have immediate effects on making the life of Chinese visa applicants easier as EU member states will be able to set up Visa application centers in certain cities where they don’t have consular presence. An extensive investment agreement should be finalized by the end of the Luxembourg presidency to make bilateral business easier. Finally, synergies between the Investment Plan for Europe and Chinese the One Belt One Road initiative will be sought.
