Luxembourg secures non-permanent United Nations Security Council seat
On 18 October 2012, Luxembourg has been elected by the UN General Assembly as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for the mandate 2013-2014.
Starting from January 2013, Luxembourg will serve for the first time in its history as a non-permanent member on the Security Council. It was the only founding member of the UN that had never held a place on the UN Security Council.
