Luxembourg is 9th most innovative economy: Global Innovation Index
Luxembourg ranks ninth in this year's Global Innovation Index from Cornell University, Insead and the World Intellectual Property Organization, up from 12th place last year. The survey of 143 economies uses 81 indicators to gauge innovation levels. With a score of 54.94 out of 100, Luxembourg is placed fifth worldwide for outputs, leading neighbours such as Germany, Belgium and France.
The authors highlight the country’s ranking of second for business sophistication, up from 7th the previous year, and a leap from 43rd to 16th in knowledge and technology outputs. Among creative outputs the Grand Duchy is first for Madrid system trademark applications, cultural and creative services exports, national feature films produced and generic top-level domains.
