Trade Mission to China:

From December 16th to 20th, Their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess of Luxembourg, led a trade mission to China, together with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy, Etienne Schneider, and the Secretary of State for the Economy Francine Closener.

The official delegation had meetings in Beijing with Mr. Gao Hucheng, China’s Minister of Commerce (MOFCOM), Mr. Zhou Xiaochuan Governor of the People’s Bank of China and Mr. Xiao Gang Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Commission.

 Those meetings aimed at further develop bilateral economic relations by promoting Luxembourg as an entry gate to the European market and position the Grand Duchy as a leading offshore RMB centre. During their stay in Beijing, TT.RR.HH. attended the opening ceremonies of Paul Wurth’s new offices and of IEEs new technical centre (cf. related articles).

During that time, a business delegation with representatives of more than 20 companies held a seminar and matchmaking event in Qingdao, before joining the government representatives in Shanghai.

In Shanghai, about 200 businesspeople from Luxembourg and China attended the reception organised in the evening. The official delegation was received by Mayor Yang Xiong and participated in ceremonies for the opening of the offices of CTI and for the signing of a contract between Jiading District and Cebi which will make it possible for the Luxembourg company to build a new plant in Shanghai (cf. related articles).

Business seminars and matchmaking events were organised in Hangzhou and Wuxi, enhancing cooperation between companies from Luxembourg and those from the Yangtze River Delta. The government officials visited Alibaba to whom they presented the opportunities Luxembourg could offer. TT.RR.HH. the Crown Prince and the Crown Princess and Deputy Prime Minister Schneider also met the founder of Impro, who announced that his company would set up their European Headquarters in the Grand-Duchy (cf. related article).
